Over the past week there have been so many exciting developments at Location Independent HQ, it’s been hard to keep up and those of you on the Priority Updates list will hopefully forgive me for not sending out multiple emails to let you know about each and every one of them.
Instead, I’d like to use a weekend post to start sharing what’s new, what’s been happening and what’s coming up around the Location Independent project – as well as highlighting our growing range of products & services which will hopefully form the cornerstone of this project as a successful commercial project.
So here’s a brief round-up of what’s happened this past week…
The Community “Street” Teams Project
The Community Teams are really starting to get going and the focus this week has been on appointing most of the Team Leaders, encouraging the use of the private Team website to co-ordinate our efforts and figuring out a pretty steep learning curve when it comes to leading and directing a community for this purpose.
We’ve had a few teething problems with some members misunderstanding the purpose of the Team & the site which is partly my fault – but hopefully we’ve sorted those out now and the teams can go full steam ahead spreading the concepts of location independent living across the world!
We’ve had some pretty amazing results already with members like Cody McKibben, Amy Palko, Sharon Hurley Hall and Cath Duncan really stepping up and doing a fantastic job of spreading the word – you’ll hopefully be seeing the fruits of some of those efforts in the coming weeks.
The Clubhouse Is Open!
A few months ago I had the brilliant idea of starting a forum – a private clubhouse which I hoped would become a thriving community of LIPs. Unfortunately, like many online forums it didn’t quite take off and I really didn’t have the time at that stage that was needed to make it work.
However, as a direct result of some of the teething troubles we’ve had with the Community Team site – I have realised that such a forum is still needed by people to have general chats, discussions and get the support of like-minded members who are either already location independent or are striving to be.
So here’s the deal: The Clubhouse is now back open and free for you to use as a place to meet, chat with and support anyone else interested in the location independent lifestyle. I still don’t have the time to moderate it or take a massively active part in it (although will definitely drop in from time to time) so will leave it up to the community to self-moderate. Registration is required but you will automatically gain access once registered.

The Business Course Is Now Modular
Another grand plan I hatched a while ago was to make the business course available in modular bundles – to provide a more affordable option for anyone who couldn’t yet afford to purchase the whole course but wanted to get started building their own location independent business.
Thanks to the slightly-ahead-of-schedule official launch of the course to coincide with this fantastic thumbs up from Chris Guillebeau, I finally got round to creating the modular bundles so you can now get access to Bundle 1 (modules 1 & 2), Bundle 2 (modules 3 & 4) and Bundle 3 (modules 5 & 6) separately for a far more affordable price than purchasing the whole course.

The Little LIP Destination Guides
You may or may not know that we have actually created a small range of our own custom destination guides for location independent destinations around the world. I’ve kept quiet about this to date as the range is not huge yet but will be growing.
The guides are specifically created for us LIP types in that they focus on the information we need which is often very different from a typical tourist or visitor to a country (e.g. availabilty of high speed internet, specific accommodation recommendations that come with internet access, alternative office options etc.). Each guide has been created by either a local or by someone who has spent time in the destination for at least a month or more – so the information is detailed, specific and highly relevant.
You can see the existing range of destination guides we have already created here >>>
That’s it for the round-up this week. Next week I hope to have a few more exciting things to point to and one very exciting feature we’ll be adding to this site in the next few weeks…
