I’m pleased to announce that I’ve finally got round to launching something I’ve had on my list and in my head for a while but life got in the way of doing it!!
However it’s here now…what is it?
It’s the LIP Destination Guides site – which you can find here >>>
So what is it?
In short, it’s a sister site for the Location Independent Living blog. The LIP Destination Guides site however is dedicated to sharing the information that’s relevant for LIPs about all the places we (and other LIPs) visit.
We spend literally hours researching a potential destination before we visit it – and of course once we’re there learn huge amounts about it which is useful to other LIPs thinking of visiting.
The site is designed to save you the time and effort of finding out this information for yourself and to help you find the relevant, LIP-specific info you need which is very often not in the guidebooks.
Why is it free?
Honestly? We did think about selling this information via an ebook, membership site or some such thing but decided in the end that it would take too long for us to create this and that in the meantime the information should be out there – better out of our heads than in!
You will notice however that the site contains more adverts and promotions than you might be used to on this blog – and a “Donate” button prominently displayed on the site. Of course we can’t incite you to do anything with any of these, but they’re there in case you feel the urge to show your appreciation for the information we’re providing.
Each guide takes at least a couple of hours to write – not to mention the time taken to format the post, manage the blog and generally get everything running smoothly – if you appreciate the time and effort we go to, then please let us know by donating or buying the book (if you haven’t done already!).
How you can help otherwise…
Of course, this information is only useful if it is up-to-date and current (which is why guidebooks become redundant so quickly given they’re only updated every 2-3 years).
Whilst the information is correct at the time of the initial writing, we all know how quickly things can change.
If you know better and you would like to help us keep the information up-to-date, please leave a correction, amendment or addition in the comments and we’ll update this accordingly. You will be credited with your name and one URL in the credit section at the bottom of the guide.
So, I hope you enjoy the info – let me know what you think…
(and we’ll be adding more information about the places we’ve already visited shortly).

Hi Lea
What a great idea… well done and thank you!!
Let me know if you have any questions about Koh Lanta, and I will try my best to provide the info you need….
Hi Tina – nice to hear from you – was catching up on your blog the other day and it sounds like you guys are enjoying yourselves nicely over there!!
I’ll be putting together something about Phuket & Thailand when we’ve arrived and checked it out so may well tap you up for some info on Koh Lanta too – thanks for the offer!
Brilliant idea. This could become a really great resource. Love the way you’ve laid out the info too.
@Rob Wood – thanks, Rob! I’m hoping it will become a valuable resource for other LIPs who have the same requirements we do when we travel…
