Hi both of you, firstly I love the website!

I've been living a similar lifestyle for several years now, having left the UK in 2003, I moved to Sydney for 2 years, and then to Thailand for 3 years.

Your costs for Thailand above would set you up in a palace if you lived in Chiang Mai. We had a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom house, with garden 5 mins from the centre of Chiang Mai and it cost us 100-150GBP a month. Food on average was 50p-1GBP a meal.

Sorry for the plug, but we've made a series of podcasts on our website - Earthoria.com - from our time living in Thailand. You may be interested if you're heading that way...

We're currently in Latin America - I'm in Ecuador right now, but I'm working my way to Buenos Aires (following some more Spanish classes) to live for a while as too many people have recommended it to me to ignore :-).

Good luck with the site, I've subscribed to your RSS feed so will be following your next moves!

Hi Tracy - you can apply for extensions to your visa from the Immigration office once you're there. There seem to be no hard and fast rules about how long you can stay in total (I think it depends how they feel on the day!!) and when we pressed the officer there, he didn't commit to anything. We didn't work "on the island" as such but serviced clients remotely via the internet.

Hope that helps...

Hi,
We're hoping to touch-down in Grenada (Caribbean) in November and are just about to make first contact with the Grenadian High Commission in London - our laptops are at the ready! I was interested to know how you dealt with immigration, as the last time we went on holiday they only gave us a 1 month pass, as it were. How did you get to stay there longer, and did you have to get work permits and pay tax if you were carrying out work whilst living on the island?

I'd also be interested in any useful contacts you have on the island re accommodation. I've already spoken to a real estate guy, but I imagine this is the more expensive way to go.

Any tips gratefully received.

Cheers, and happy travelling
