Public transport in Toronto is excellent. It’s clean, safe, efficient & easy to use (or maybe that’s because we speak English and can ask for help so easily now?!??)…
The easiest & cheapest way to get around is on the subway. It cost $2.75 a ride, although you can buy 5 or 10 tokens which you then plop into the machine before the turnstiles.
If you’re going to be travelling a lot in one day, then it’s probably worth buying a day ticket for $8.75. At weekends this is an even better deal, because you can buy one day ticket and it’s good for a family (2 adults or 2 adults and up to 4 children).
Taxis are also great but expensive. Drivers are very firendly & helpful and will always ask which route you want to take if you know. A ride across town costs about $10-12 though so it is not the most cost effective way to travel long distances in Toronto.
Streetcars are also great & a fun way to travel although they stop at every intersection (where you can then just hop on and off) so it can be a little slow. You use tokens or travel cards here too.
